The color emerald green was recently unveiled as the Pantone color of the year. I am a huge fan of green and so was excited to hear this news. My personal “treasure chest” of favorite emeralds in the world of home décor includes everything from vases and rugs to large-scale photographs. See some of my favorite green products here, as well as some ideas for complementing the hue (think black and white).

When designing with green, keep in mind the following:

• Consider emerald green with crisp whites to create a fresh look.

• I love how the color brings the outdoors in. Consider imagery that features lush greens (paintings, photography, etc.).

• Try using green in rooms that have a lot of natural light and large windows.

• If you decide to use emerald green on your walls, add graphic black-and-white accents for a high-energy vibe.

• Skip green walls if it’s just too much for you, but do consider emerald-green curtains (silk fabric by Kravet is a good choice) and accessorize with emerald-green pillows, vases and rugs.

  1. I was so happy Emerald Green was Pantones choice for color of the year. Its truly one of my favorites and has so much range design wise. It is a chic, strong color for both fashion and home. In clothing, its a hue that looks good on nearly every skin tone and hair coloring. It always seems to add vibrancy to its wearer.
For the home, I love the shades ability to add depth and richness to a room. Being a tone easily found in nature, its ability to pull the exterior in and create a seemingly larger space overall is one of my favorite aspects of the color. Couldn’t have picked a better one, Pantone!

  2. Having read this I believed it was really informative. I appreciate
you spending some time and effort to put this short
article together. I once again find myself spending a significant amount of time both reading and posting comments.
But so what, it was still worth it!
