Celebrate National Hot Tea Month with Nicely Designed Teaware

January hot tea month

January is a great month to celebrate hot tea!  We are constantly looking for something to warm us up inside and out.

Many of us, including me, drink hot tea year-round.  Tea is not only healthy but so delicious.

As January is National Hot Tea Month, I am including the subject in this week’s post. Tea is one of my most beloved beverages. Those pretty teapots lined up above are (from far left): a vintage Uzbek Ikat design from Distant boutique (distant-la.com); white contemporary styles from Ole Jensen; and a chic black pot from Teavana. The set-up  below is from Teavana, at my office — can’t you just see and feel the steam? Tea helps me create and think!

coffeeandteafestival.com reports: “It is not surprising to learn that January is National Hot Tea Month since it is the time of year when many make resolutions to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Tea, with all its health benefits, can assist anyone committed to making this year, the year. Adding tea to a healthy diet may be one of the easiest and healthiest resolutions to start the New Year out right, said Joe Simrany, President of the Tea Council of the USA.”

From gorgeous tea cups, kettles and pots to the delicious teas themselves, the entire tea experience is delightful and soul-satisfying. Some of my favorite recollections over the past year with regard to tea and great designs that would look fantastic in any kitchen or dining room (people are also starting to create tea, coffee and espresso stations in their master suites!) include the special-collection teapots that were offered at Crate & Barrel for the company’s 50th anniversary. I believe each month in 2013 the company rolled out a new teapot designed (limited edition) by a variety of artists. Read about it here in House Beautiful magazine.

I also loved what I read in the recent Somerset Collection Holiday Book about tea etiquette (see page 191) . The Somerset Collection is an upscale shopping destination near me in Troy, MI, and every year, the facility publishes an over-the-top, gorgeous holiday book. This year’s issue included a special etiquette section and there were quotes from Teavana experts on how to drink tea properly. There’s a cool photo of a Rabat Infuser Mug from Teavana, too. I love that store and could get lost in there for hours!
